Shane and I are staying at the Wald's house, in Auke Bay, while they vacation in Hawaii {thanks again guys!}. It is absolutely beautiful here. Just wanted to post a quick update since I haven't in a while. Things have been quiet. Hopefully we can go on an adventure tomorrow so that I can take some more pictures. We just love it here. Also, I spy two eagles in the pictures below!

Seven Days Later

Shane told me it would be super lame to make a post like this, but I'm gonna anyway. Seven days into January I decided we needed to make New Year's resolutions. I sat down with Sequoyah and we wrote a few things down. Hopefully we can stick to them. I know this is cheesy and dumb, but oh well, I like it.

Twenty-One

Today is Shane's twenty-first birthday! Wahoo! We stayed up last night and waited for midnight so I could be the very first to tell him...HAPPY BIRTHDAY and give a big ole' kiss on that birthday mowf. I had planned a big spectacular day for the two of us but he had to work a double {boo}. Also, my presents for him didn't work out {typical} because the shipping to Alaska takes a ridiculous amount of time. So hopefully they will get here soon and I won't seem like the worst wife ever.
We did get to celebrate though! Which was amazing, and so fun. We went over to the {wonderful} Wald's house and had a par-tay. Complete with cheesy  monkey hats and all. Grace made two delicious chocolate cakes for the birthday boy. Which he gobbled down with his two favorite buddies.

Sequoyah finally got that IPhone 5 he's been begging for! ;)
We feel so lucky and blessed to have such great friends and the wonderful opportunity to be here. Alaska is great for us and Shane is loving every minute of his birthday. Thank you for all the birthday wishes and love sent our way. Sequoyah and I are forever grateful.

I am so thankful for Shane. He's my best friend and companion for the rest of forever and I am so happy he is by my side. Thank you for being so wonderful my dear, I love you Shane Sequoyah Rainer. Happy Birthday, love.

PS: If you want to watch my silly family wishing Shane a happy birthday, here's the video. This was by far Sequoyah's favorite present-- http://youtu.be/CC5137i6gCg

Our good friends Cayla and James moved out of their apartment a few days ago to go back down south {we will miss you!}, which means we got to move in today.

The majority of the apartment is hardwood floor, which is nice. There are three baseboard heaters which keeps everything nice and toasty. We leave our shoes right by the heater in front of the door and we have free wifi, which I think is just brilliant.

The place is small but beautiful. It is in a gorgeous location. It's right above where the tides come in and you can see the airplanes land across the lake. Here's the view from our front door.

We did get a car, it is an old hotel van. It's half broken, but it runs, so it's perfect.

Waitressing

Sorry if anyone has been frustrated with my lack of posts. Sequoyah and I are both working full-time. The small amount of free time we get, we like to spend it with each other. I'll try better. Promise.
I finished my training as a front desk clerk and have started waitressing at the restaurant. When I'm not waiting tables I'm checking guests in/out. Here's the work station.
Surprisingly, I really love working at the restaurant. I get to meet so many nice people {and not so nice} everyday. It gives me a chance to go outside my comfort zone and talk to people. It's a lot of work but I'm really loving it.
Sequoyah is still getting over his cold but is doing much better. He is working as the van driver. He is responsible for getting guests where they need to be. He's just so cute!
More good news is we should be moving into our apartment very shortly. This means we get to get out of the little hotel room and spread out. I'm very excited. I'll be posting pics of our new place soon. Stay tuned! Cheers!

PS- I apologize for the terrible photos. All I have is my phone right now. I'm saving up for a new lens though!
